Gee, this thread is looong! I don't know if any of my photos are repeated somewhere else, but here are a few POW original photos I have. These are 8x10s, so to post them, I had to crop them a bit. This first photo is my favorite-dated 4/27/45 HAA758063 WP Kronach,Germany--"S/Sgt Francis Daggett,Urbana Illinois, talks with a german boy,who looks 8,but is really 15. He was one of a group of 15 and 16 year old boys in Kronach who were ordered to don uniforms and head for Bavaria when US 11th Armored division troops entered the area. Instead of obeying, the boys, with their 22-year-old leader, hid in the woods, then gave themselves up to the yanks. They discarded their uniforms and burnt them in the street of the town. Here is the next photo:02Mar 45 photog. T/5 CR Pearson 3264
5th Armored Division,9th US Army, near Anrath, Germany. I really had to crop this one badly to get it to fit-there is actually a long line of POWs behind the jeep.
Great press photos!! Thanks for posting. I agree those press photos are quite big....so the best thing is to reduced them in size so you don't lose the overall picture by cropping. This thread of course has taken on a life of it's own...it gets bigger and bigger.
I have recently discovered a few German POW photos in a GI Italy photo album

German POWs in Italy #2 POW in the middle (next to the guy scratching his balls) with the splinter camo trousers appears to be wearing a LW Field made Ground Combat Jacket.
I got sidelined before I could post the last one. This one is dated 6/15/44. Not much of a caption on the back, but the details are quite interesting. The Medic jeep is a good touch, and so are the gas hoods being worn by the soldiers heading up. These hoods are seldom seen except as winter wear. Not seen due to the cropping is a soldier standing by the side of the road wearing an assault vest.
Thanks for posting the photos. I noticed that my father is the one with his back straight! He always told me to sit up straight! He was always a soldier, even as a POW. I am really proud to be his son! I am about 90% through with his memoirs, and once I find a "real" Krimschild to replace the one the French stole from him, I'll finally hjave his medals together.
