Who is the author? Is it somebody called Rittich and could it be the US version of this book?

        Hi Torstenbel,

From what I've been able to find online, I think the answer to your question is 'yes.' The 1938 book by Werner Rittich titled "Architektur und Bauplastik der Gegenwart" was apparently translated into English by Dr. Matthias Schnitz and published in New York City by the German Library of Information in 1940 under the title: "A Nation Builds: Contemporary German Architecture." This book is available online for free, though without any photographs, for anyone who would like to read the highly-propagandized text. As a source of comparison with your German edition, here is the Table of Contents for the 1940 English language version:

        Introduction 7

        A Nation Builds 11

        Rebuilding the Nation's Capital 21

        German Architecture Abroad 34

        New Churches 37

        New Theatres 46

        Open-Air Theatres 53

        Reichssportfeld 56

        Party Buildings at Nuremberg 61

        Ordensburgen 67

Army and Air Force Buildings 72

        Schools 80

        Youth Hostels 85

        Private Homes 89

        Low Cost Housing 97

        Recreation Centers 110

        Factories 113

        State Motor Highways 117

        Bibliography 132

I hope this is helpful to you. All good wishes,

        Br. James

Hi Br. James, I thought it would be the same book. Thank you for confirming this. Would be nice to also have the english version of this book. This is the title page of the original 1938 German edition. Cheers, Torsten.

Always glad to help, Torsten! I think you may find a number of original 1940 editions of the English language version available by Googling the book's English title. Like you, I also enjoy finding English-language versions of German texts.

Hi Alex, thank you very much for showing I had completing forgotten about this title. I did use to own the same book some ago, but it must be at least ten years ago already and I have not seen it since then .... Cheers, Torsten.

#16 No author, just German Library of Information. I think I've seen the title Eine Nation Baut Auf somewhere. This might be it, or?
