Since my main interest is in Imperial German, most of my Happy Couples are WW1 or earlier.

And the few others are middle aged folk who WERE young then.

Sometimes something as simple as their expressions is what appeals over all these decades, when there is nothing of particular uniform/awards or bridal fashion interest.

Like Oberstleutnant Haberl's "semi-happy couple" photo, in THIS pair it is easy to see who Married Up.

... makes you wonder what she saw in him! Clearly this mustache imitator Polizei-Meister wasn't a Fun Guy!

                        You HAVE been busy, Jeff!!

#156 presents us with something I've never seen before-- a bridegroom packin' a PISTOL! Ceremonial blades were quite normal, as part of prescribed versions of dress uniforms...

but I've NEVER seen a firearm worn with a parade dress medal bar (and in church???) before!

We've all heard of "shotgun weddings" but really!...

Here is my one and only, AFAIK (have gotten about 350 photos since the time I got it, so hard to say). Two Wehrmacht Kameraden, one in feldbluse and one in waffenrock. Suprisingly enough, the one in his regular combat uniform is the one being married .Also note the bride is beautiful (imo), and I would say in the top 5 on this thread.

The only one not frowning is the kinder over the 'Waffenrock's' shoulder? Why are these people frowning?? I understand solemn but really!

Rick - The groom is not looking at the bride but beyond her, maybe his sensitive ears detect malfeasance, hence the gun.
