Absolutely awesome photo of PAK in Russia

This was in a lot of 245 photos from one soldier.
I love how the PAK gun is in camo and ready to kick some Soviet Armored ass!

Note that they covered up the ammo so it wont get exposed to nature !

Great shot, it must have been extremely difficult to locate pak's camoflaged in such a way. I wonder how many Russian tanks this crew destroyed?????????

With their "doorknocker" I bet they had to get those Russian tanks in real close, what nerve it took to man one of those anti-tank guns.

Born about eighty years too late!

When I bought the photos from a fellow forum member, I did not know what would all be in the lot. This was a very nice suprise!
Can anyone tell me what model PAK this is?

            Karl,

It's the PAK 35/36, calibre would be 3.7 cm (37mm) - usefull during the early war years, but outdated by the time of the invasion of Russia. Indeed a 'doorknocker' , as Mike stated. No effect on T34s, unless it's real (too!) close, and you have a lucky shot.....

            Frank.

some how I think the caliber of the 2nd gun is slightly larger than the 1st, an 8,8 cm perhaps!! now that would stop a T34! and from a distance too, all great photos!

I have missed a lot of good threads due to my work... Dave, what a wonderful photo of 8,8cm Pak 43/41! Do any one of you know another color photo of this beast? I believe no... (some may exist from Allied sources but I haven't heard of one from german origin...) It is also rare as a B/W photo!

                      Thank you for sharing!
