Feldpost Document Ink Stamp 16 244

Any thoughts and / or information regarding this wooden Feldpost ink stamp? The base is wooden with a very heavy brass bottom.

No idea about the stamp itself but the Feldpost Number belongs to...

          (1.2.1941-11.7.1941) Stab u. 1.-3. Kompanie Feldersatz-Bataillon 186 der 86. Infanterie-Division,
          (25.1.1943-31.7.1943) gestrichen,
          (24.3.1944-6.11.1944) 24.7.1944 Regimentsstab u. Stabskompanie Grenadier-Regiment 1068,
          (24.3.1944-6.11.1944) 28.9.1944 Stab u. Stabskompanie Divisionsgruppe 56,
          (24.3.1944-6.11.1944) 16.10.1944 Regimentsstab u. Stabskompanie Grenadier-Regiment 171.

Thank you Hucks, that's actually some of the information I was looking for. I've done some extensive searching, and there's not a whole lot out there on these ink stamps. Mostly what I'm finding is that there are a lot of Polish / Eastern European repros out there. I've been burned once many years ago.

I'd like to think this time around that I've got a good one.

I did read on one of the postings that most stamps were of the rubber variety; however, some feldpost ones were brass. Can anyone confirm this?

Seems to be a good stamp. My only problem is the manufacter's disc is so worn, even though the handle appears in very good condition.

                Thanks Jeff,

I'm thinking that "maybe", the maker's disk might be of a lower quality metal, perhaps even a zink-type?

By the way, if anyone has a Feldpost Ink Stamp, please post any photos that you might have.
