As you know, after the capture of Paulus at Stalingrad, the NKVD was fear that German saboteurs will try to free the Field Marshal. After several hours of questioning in Beketovka, Paulus moved to the rear. In the headquarters of the Donskoy front. It is 80 kilometers from Stalingrad, in the village Zavarykino.
When I drove to Zavarykino, I have no hope to find "traces" of the German generals. The village is abandoned and slowly dying. But the first comer old man immediately showed me where lived a "great" Rokossovsky - The commander Donskoy front!
Unfortunately, the house "headquarters of the Donskoy front", in which Rokossovsky and Voronow urged Paulus to give an order "to stop the resistance North factions German troops" strongly rebuilt for 70 years. But my attention was drawn to the house across the street. Hmmm ... Unexpected!
Generalfeldmarschall Friedrich Wilhelm Ernst Paulus in Zavarykino. The first meeting with the generals after the captivity.

Skorin, if you have a look at Jason Mark's superlative book " Angriff, The German attack on Stalingrad in Photos" you will find a huge amount of photos, many in the city itself. Maybe you could have a look for some of the same locations now ?

      All the best

In the city there is not much of buildings after the war. Surviving house is not easy to find in the photographs. Plus modern buildings and trees always grow in the "right" place

I'm glad there is a thread like this, when it seems like we're constantly drowning in the autograph and paper "fake" or "forgery" arguments. To each his own, I guess.

Famous Berezovsky bridge over the Don near Kalach. The bridge is known for desperate defense and the massive loss of Soviet troops in August 1942. Russian still managed to blow up the bridge, and the Germans built a new one. But the capture of Berezovsky Bridge November 22, 1942 a group of Filippov - is an incredible story!
