They look like something that was used to depict the types of work done by FJ's. Obviously these are not recent graduates from a training school but in the U.S. you see similar pictures posted during police academy graduations (recruits in training) or in military unit year books (the unit at work). Very interesting pics.

On picture #4, can you zoom in on the white sign in the background?

Thanks for your answers, do you still think it is the Gendarmerie one or from the Schutzpolizei, NickG?

Thanks for your answer also VPpat, I would see what I can do as the sun shines heavy on the sun it is hard to read or scan it.

Bart, it might be orange, but hard to tell: I think I see that very same colour on the shoulder's WF, am I crazy?

Here is a late-war SS-Feldgendarm. Notice he only wears the SS Arm Eagle and the SS-Feldgendarmerie cufftitle. Completely different than early in the war.

Bart, if I remember well in 1940 they should have had just the Gendarmerie eagle and not the SS one, so the lot is very interesting.

I wouldn't be surprise to find these pictures on some TR-era book or magazine: they are very neat, sharp and clean, stunning shots with a very good camera.

A couple of questions if you guys don't mind.

Where all FG at least NCO rank?

Did FG Officers ever wear the Police Eagle in lieu of the SS eagle when authorized?

Thanks again and once more beautiful photos.

Could be yet I never saw them before in any publicitation.

Looks like they didn't listen to the uniform regulations.

These MP's wear orange Feldgendarme eagles, no doubt! They are military MP's!
(This in addition to SS sleeve eagles which is unusual). The orange would make sense. along with the Army pattern Feldgendarme cuff titles like wehrmacht MP's would wear. See officer below!

The only reason why I brought up the Schutzpolizei green eagle topic (in the other thread, SS section) is to illustrate the other scenario where both eagles are being worn simultaneously.(ex-polizei men wearing their eagle as "former" trade badge per Robin's explanation, en lieu of the ex-polizei "raute" =sleeve diamond)

Waffen SS MP's wore Feldgendarme eagles instead of SS sleeve eagles but later the Feldgendarme eagles were dropped (mid war) and SS sleeve eagles were being worn along with SS pattern SS-Feldgendarmerie cuff titles...
I have never ever seen this combination before...but an explanation could be that they were issued SS uniforms with factory stitched SS sleeve eagles and instead of replacing thos eagles with the proper MP eagle they simply added that eagle below the SS sleeve eagle...creating this crowded sleeve (+ cuff title!), really an amazing conbination and indeed against regulation)

Enlisted men of the Feldgendarmerie were almost all NCO's.

Many thanks for this answer NickG

Thanks for the wonderful PM's and yes the late-war Feldgendarm portrait is also in my archives (just forgot to mark it with the watermark).

Handschar MP's wore the Feldgendarm eagle ONLY!
                              below example:
Orange Feldgendarmerie eagles are being worn along with SS Feldgendarmerie
                              cuff titles...
                              (1) So early on Orange eagles with Heer pattern MP cuff titles
                              (2) after that Orange eagles with SS pattern MP cuff titles
                              (3) and finally SS eagles with SS pattern MP cuff titles
but your examples of BOTH eagles worn together is not the norm! =unofficial scenario (4)

In combination with the Feldgend. cufftitle. Looks like we have had the most now.

                                1. SS Arm eagle + Police sleeve eagle + Cufftitle
                                2. SS Arm eagle + Cufftitle
                                3. SS Arm eagle + Police sleeve eagle (to denote ex-polizei)
4.. Police sleeve eagle + Cufftitle
