Great docs - the last one shows that he became Kriminalsekretär within the Gestapo Stuttgart.
Interesting on the first doc: he left the catholic church (K.A. = Kirchenaustritt = leaving officially the former religion behind) and turned to gottgläubig - that was what Himmler awaited from his men.
One could easily smell that in this case the biography is an interesting (and valuable) one - wonder if "max history" states why he misjudged this piece.

I originally called the document "historically significant" because it was clear the owner was a celebrity of sorts, if his biography survived - perhaps hanged as a war criminal, perhaps one of the many instigators who disappeared and was condemned in absentia, etc.
Needless to say, I am a hopeless, romantic old fool, but that is what keeps most historians going - trying to unlock the secrets behind a "historically significant" document.
I mean, let's face it, Hitler's Chauffer had a lot of "historically significant" things to say, and Herr Maile was certainly involved in some intirgue of note, even if it was never recorded for posterity, or just sinply hasn't come to light yet.
An Honor Ring (or even just the doc) awarded to a Gestapo leader - that meets my criteria for a unique "keeper".

On the up side, this document is for a RSHA member which makes it slightly more interesting than a basic TK ring document, unless something more important can be discovered about the recipient. Not all documents have watermarks.
My congratulations on a nice find.
Max.
Sometimes the experts are cautious as to not excite the owners of items.
He just left further research up to others, as he should have done. He does have a life after all.

Good one!

when my parents were moved into the former ss housing, they did not know whether the ss personnel ran or were taken prisoner. it would seem that anything identifying maile as a recipient of the ring, member of the gestapo, etc., would not be a good thing. i wonder if he ran and left the paper (in a book), or hid it before he was taken. i wonder where the ring is. so many questions!
