    Great mortar photo from Norway

    Some interresting details on this photo. Unfortunatly I havn't been able to identify this unit. Location is in Hallingdal in Norway.

        By looking at the other photos in the album I belive this was taken during winter 1941/1942.

            Almost certainly the 69 Inf.Div. as that was their area winter 41\42.

            One of the heavy companies of either IR 159 or 236 (4,8 or 12) as they were the ones with 8cm mortars. I'll see if i can narrow it down to at least which regiment.

            If it's early enough, ie. dec.41 and before it could also be IR 193 before they were transferred to the Litza front.

                    That photo shows a pionier officer and we don't know what relation he has to the photographer.

                    The photo of the Kong Olaf in Stavanger may be the clue here as II./I.R.193 landed at Stavanger on the 9th April. By Jan 42 it was the battalion left behind initially when the rest of the regiment was sent to Gebirgskorps Norwegen on the Litza front and from what i can tell the battalion was for a while responsible for a large area that included Hallingdal.

                    That would mean then 8./Inf.Rgt.193
