    Ballontruppen related photos

I collect Ballontruppen-related photos, as some of you might know.

Quite a few have been accumlated but unfortunately I do not have any books or magazine artilcles that are focused on Ballontruppen. Are there any? I ask this because I am not still sure what I should look for...

Also, I would appreciate it if you post your photos.

I will start from my recent acquisition, Ballon-Batterie 101 group.

Until several years ago I met few competiters on ebay, but now it has become harder to win photos related to Ballontruppen; it might mean increased interest on this minor subsection.

I don't know of anything specific on Ballontruppen but as they were part of the Beobachtungs Artillerie perhaps that's the best bet,
For example Hans-Joachim Froben's book 'AufklƤrende Artillerie'?

Photos i'm afraid i dont have but i do have some monthly strength reports from le.Geb.Beob.Abt.18 and 38.

One, from 38, mid '44 complains about the ballonzug only having 1 balloon operational. The other having been destroyed by enemy action over a year previously yet still not having been replaced.

                      Hello chrisson007,

Is this The Army Balloon Observer's Badge? I have never seen this badge in wear.

                      Thanks.

                        Hi Akira,

I found this Bundesarchiv photo of a French Latil truck with a balloon tethered to it.

The symbol on the fender looks like a balloon with a dog tethered to it?

Have you seen this unit emblem before?

                        Cheers

                        Larry

Superb photos! I especially like the colour ones.

What are the harnesses for, parachutes?

                          Thanks for posting.

I have these waffenrock, which i understand could be Observation Battalion, Balloon Battery, or Flash Ranging Battery.

However, the unit stamp is 4/Bb.4....could this stand for Balloon battery?

No it isn't. It's the NSFK balloon badge. First pattern i believe.
