Great photos Simon. That Bergmütze is interesting. They definitely have the look of battle-hardened officers.

Good observation Bryant. That Bergmütze definitely looks to be made from a lighter weight material. Privately made piece?

Very nice photo Simon. Looks to be a pre-war photo. Great variety of badges shown being worn too.

              Servus Bergkameraden,

Outstanding portraits Simon! I love the first photo with the unique Bergmütze also.

To my eye, it looks to be a Bergmütze made from Windjacke material...probably made by the company tailor...which was a common practice.

Interesting Gebirg pic from the collection. Note shoulderboards.

                    Nice one Koenigstiger.

Interesting tailor made flat variation of the medal bar. Note how crudely applied the ribbons are. The blue DA ribbon on the far right is quite a large one!

Group photos of the officers ofr III./GJR 143

Two RKTs can be seen, Major Karl Ruef, who later wrote the divisions history and who commanded the battalion and on the right, wearing it seems all his decorations, Lt. Max Ropp who was given a battlefield commission shortly before the end of the war.

                          Great photos all.

Simon, that group photo is excellent. Glad to see the identities and histories of the RKTs in the photo.

Koenigstiger, are you able to find many of your Gebirgsjäger photos locally in Austria?

Looks like a a cap badge is being worn in addition to the Edelweiss.
