    Panzers on the move

I posted this in the panzer thread as well. It's the back of a photo showing panzers on the move. It was taken on August 12,1942, if I'm not mistaken.

              Hi Gerdan,

Thanks for your help. Interesting, using shorthand. Too bad we don't know what the D 7 stood for.

                Pauke,

Thank you for the translation. Can you tell what is written in the second picture in post #3500 or the name that is written in #3501? Thanks again.

                  The exact German text:

"Wegen Einstellung der Kampfhandlungen entlassen. Wehrpaß durch Feindeinwirkung vernichtet.

16.4.45 sgn. Eckstein, Oblt. u. Abt. Kdr.

                  In Ermangelung eines Dienstsiegels
                  sgn. Eckstein, Oblt."

                          Hi Guys,

Need some help on this document. It came with a named helmet to a Stefan Pachler from the Bundesarchiv.

                          Thanks,
                          Rich

they say that they need more detailed information (family- and first name, date of birth, place of birth his unit and his rank) of the soldier your are looking for.

Without these information they are unable to identify the soldier.

It is interesting but in the Volksbund list there is not even one soldier listed with the name "Pachler" and in the recent German phone book there are listed only 29 "Pachler". It seems that the name is not so often in Germany.
