      Thanks for the translation. Why do you think Walter mentioned Hamburg? Was that where the photo was taken or do you think that's where Walter was from? Merry Christmas to you and yours.

        It is not so easy to answer this question. There must have been a certain relation to Hamburg.

        Harburg was a town which has been incorporated into the City of Hamburg.
        May be this place was the origin or home of Walter. So he could have meant: this card is from Walter from Hamburg-Harburg.

        The Hamburg area is very flat. So it seems that the photo was not taken in Hamburg. I think or he was doing a military trainig or the photo was taken during a mission.

                  Here is a name tag that has baffled everyone. It is in a panzer major general's wrap, perhaps you handwriting guys can figure it out. Here are three different photos.
