It may be "HindenburgsTOD" now that I look at it again. Which would make it a parade to mourn his passing - that makes a bit more sense! I thought it was "Tor" at first, thinking it might have been a monument already built for him.

Thanks Hank. To be honest, thats what I thought too....that it was a Hindenburg monument. But I looked it up and there was info about barbarossa monument, but nothing for hindenburg. And I know at his funeral, they were using the iron cross flag thats shown in the picture. Thank you very much for the translation, I think you are right on the "tod" instead of "tor" too. It might be worth asking if anyone recognizes the event itself?

It was a military parade to honour Hindenburg' dead. He died 2 August 1942. The place

where the parade happened was in front of the Barbarossa-Denkmal (still today!) and the so

called "Kaiserpfalz" in Goslar. This may help you:

On the same place in front of the Kaiserpfalz was also a parade with Hitler 30 Sept 1934.
                          You can recognize the building:

                              # 2165

I can read mostly names (of mountains?) which I would locate in the Balkan/Yugoslavia area (e. g. Serbia, Slovenia):

                              Peglard,

                              Triglava

                              http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jalovec_(mountain)

                              Jalovec 2663

Manjaicz ? 2559 in Vilore Fule?

                                Hello again Gerdan,
Thank you very much for the links and for recognizing my photo. But I thought Hindenburg died in 34'? So do u think it is the same event still? Could it be the parade that Hitler was at maybe or...? thanks for any input

p.s. the links were very very helpful and nice to see the monument nowadays
