I can't believe he is unknown when he has been used in so many books!

I wasnt sure if this was one or not.....and it is kinda harder to see than other beautiful examples in this thread. But I figured it had a decent chance, and is on the correct side of the face....???

This one was recently given to me by a close friend. He eventually served as a Leutnant with a Schützen-Regiment but was killed in action in the second week of Operation Barbarossa. I believe he has a schmiß as well.

Sorry, I don't know the rules of sword play, but am I right in thinking that the ones ending up with the Schmiss were the losers (no pun intended)?

I read somewhere that it was so socially important in some of the university fraternities, that some men self-inflicted a scar on themselves.
A doctor like this guy (perhaps a student when it happened) would have had the right instruments to do it himself.

Of course those who did it in a real duel were congratulated by their friends.

Actually, it is rather seen as a "fight" with somebody than against.

Its common that you exchange a so called "Mensurzipfel" with your opponent after the Mensur as a kind of souvenir, with the names and date on it.

There are no winners or loosers in a normal sense, getting trough it means a win for both, regardless who took more hits.

Regarding the unknown SS Führer, i think these are "Schmisse", but he obviously fought a lot. ...and dit not care about his defensive moves.

..sorry for my english, lack some training.

And another one, picture from the web, Walter Harzer, Allemannia Stuttgart

And im looking for a picture of Alfred Fischer, could not find one anywhere.
