Expensive photo

bombadiers took shots of the targets while bombing. His story is hokey. Yes it was a chance photo, but we didnt have spy planes at the time like the U2. its worth about 10.00 Hes fishing for a sucker..sorry i have many my uncles plane took the same type ...they flew on different altitudes while bombing . Its an unfortunate situation for the crew , but may have been done by dropiing bombs from the other plaes above. Hope they all made it out before it crashed. But as far as the price is concerned , i agreee with the guy whos laughing 3 times.

As can be seen in many other aerial photos of bombing runs, probably, as I'm speculating, the B-17 above the one in the picture dropped it's bombs and the one below drifted in the bomb path and had it's wing clipped off. There are other published photos of this kind of accident over Europe. I've seen a picture of a B-17 losing one of it's horizontal stabilizers as a stick of bombs fall from the B-17 above it. How many times did this actually happen, we will never know.

I agree as if the b17 was hit by flak he would be on fire, the wings are the gas tanks. Makes sense.
