Good luck indeed...
"THIS IS THE RARE AUTHENTIC AND ORIGINAL 8X10 PHOTO OF THE NUTCRACKER #985 MOST HIGHLY DECORATED BOMBER PLAIN ON IT'S LAST BOMBING MISSION OF WWII AUGUST 1st 1943 OVER NAPLES ITALY. MY UNCLE WAS ONE OF THE PILOTS IN THIS PLAIN BEING FLOWN ON IT'S LAST MISSION IN 1943 OVER NAPLES ITALY WHEN THE RIGHT WING WAS HIT BY GROUND FIRE AND CAUSED THE PLAIN TO INVERT. THERE WAS A MAPPING PLAIN FLYING THOUSANDS OF MILES ABOVE AND JUST SO HAPPENED TO TAKE A MAPPING PHOTO THE EXACT INSTANT IN NUTCRACKERS WING WAS BLOWN OFF AND THE PLAIN INVERTED. ALL CREW MEMBERS SURVIVED BUT UNFORTUNITLY SOME WERE CAPTURED BY THE GERMANS AND ENDED UP POW'S.
THIS PHOTO WAS BLOWN UP AT 1000 TIMES MAGNIFACTION BY THE PILOT OF THE MAPPING PLAIN AND GIVEN TO MY UNCLE AFTER HE HAD ESCAPED FROM THE POW CAMP AND WAS GIVEN TO ME ABOUT 35-40 YEARS AGO. THE PHOTO IS PRICELESS AND THE ONLY ONE IN EXISTANCE. MUSEUM COLLECTORS AND PRIVIT COLLETORS WELCOME TO BID ON THIS ONE-OF-A-KIND TREASURE. I AM INQUIRING TO SMITHSONION INSTITUTE AND A FEW WWII MUSEUMS ABOUT THE VALUE AND PURCHASE OF THIS ITEM. SO I AM RESERVING THE RIGHT TO END THE AUCTION EARILY IF A PRICE IS NOGOCIATED OUTSIDE THIS AUCTION.
SERIOUS BIDDERS ONLY, THIS AUCTION IS A LEGAL AND BINDING CONTRACT.
THANK YOU FOR LOOKING AND GOOD LUCK."

I find it hard to believe it is the only one in existence since it was an Official photo of a Bombing raid it would be on file and probably a few were made by the section who developed such mission photos. The seller of course is biased as he says it is priceless and obviously thinks he has a gold mine.... which of course it isn't and he doesn't.

If anyone buys this - even for $5.00 - I will be amazed.
This the seller should stick to knocking out DVD's, coins and T shirts.
A comment by someone who bought some sunglasses from him sums up my feelings.
"seller thinks authentic, but definitely cheap and fake
Buyer: tonylora ( 494) Nov-10-08 11:16
Follow-up by tonylora (Nov-18-08 20:42):
beware!..sunglasses are made of cheap plastic..o logo is painted badly..worth $5"
Think his grasp of the English language could do with a slight improvement as well.

I don't want to sound too unkind, but he is from Omaha, Nebraska, which for us Yanks is like being a Newfie in Canada or being from Skåne in Sweden or some similar place in the UK or Holland, all of which are present on this thread.
To my point, I am not an expert on aircraft photos, but I will bet good money that same photo is well known and has been in the contemporary press somewhere. I am sure I have seen it before.
I am not that interested to investigate it, but I think if someone wanted to search the recently released Life magazine photo collection you might find it there or in some similar US publication of the era. Perhaps Time magazine or some such.

Point well taken.
As it happens, I was born in China (1940) in a Marine Corps family and grew up in South Carolina, North Carolina and through High School and College in California.
I then lived in Sweden, Peru and Canada while employed by the two stellar Swedish car companies Volvo and SAAB and eventually ended up in Georgia with SAAB. After GM purchased SAAB, I was let go and have lived here ever since, the last 20 years.
So, I can qualify as a Chinese WetBack, a Redneck of several stripes and a hippie speed freak.
However the company I have a franchise with, HobbyTown USA, for the last 18 years is based in Lincoln Nebraska and I know a Flatlander when I see one.
All in fun.
