Thought you might like to know that this photo shows the remains of a Fieseler Fi 156 Storch...

    Fade to Black...

And what's unusual is that it's taken at Bjørnfjell (Narvik). I wonder if this is the fi.156 that crashed by the border on the 4th May 1940?

Thanks! I got an email on this plane just after your posting refering to a Storch. And Simon - I think you are right. This was the same suggestion that came from that visitor.

nor me. it's in the same light as the light colored (white?) pol cap eagles but lacks the same reflectance you'd expect.

          stellar pix; thanks heaps.

            Hello Tor,
Wonderful record of a mans service, he certainly liked to take his
photos, and be well posed when others took shots. Seems almost an Idylic
war, till Larrys unit breakdown shows how it got nasty at the end.
A good record of uniform / insignia / equipment wear, both on and off duty.

Of note: Pic 46, shows Fritx Wilds grave from another angle, must have be
a place to take in while in the area, as a fair few shots exist.

Pic 228: Seems to show new uniform issue ( M1940 )

Pic 351: shows 1st burials for the unit.

Pic 356: I note Russian front boots are now in evidence.

Pic 358: SS Pattern Parka in wear.

Many thanks for taking the trouble to scan and post.

            John.

                  Kind regards
