The German infantrymen are rushing forward through a tank ditch abandoned by the Soviets. This belonged to the Bolshevik defense belt in front of Leningrad. Our tough, but still tenacious, troops has the will to the final defeat of the enemy.

3719b/ At a wintry airfield in the Ukraine.
The cold and the high snow falls this winter cannot stop the work at our air airfield. The grounds are constantly worked to get everything ready to go - as evidenced by our small series of a landing strips at the airfields in the Ukraine that are entrusted to them.

This is probably the airlift into Demyansk. A land corridor existed by the time this photo was released, but it was narrow and dangerous. The success of the Demyansk airlift convinced Hitler that the Luftwaffe could find the same success in supplying the much-larger 6. Armee at Stalingrad.
