    Identify signature.

To whom does this signature belong please?
I have a suggestion, but I'm not 100% certain and would appreciate assistance from a Wehrmacht expert.
    Thanks,
    Max.

        Hello Max,

Since the signature is supposed to be that of a "Chef des Heeres-Personalamts" I'm thinking that it is Viktor von Schwedler. It's definitely not Keitel, Schmundt, or Burgdorf. At the moment I cannot locate a signature of Schwedler for comparison.

        Best regards,
        Tom

          Hello Max,

Sorry, but I was wrong about von Schwedler. The signature is definitely not his either. Maybe the document was signed by a member of the Heeres-Personalamt, not necessarily the Chef des Heeres-Personalamts. Here is a facsimile signature of von Schwedler from an award document.

          Best regards,
          Tom

It is not signed by der Chef des Heeres-Personalamt as "i.a." (on behalf of) is written above the signature, so my guess is that it is a Staff Officer of the chief. The document is permission to wear uniform.

I think Erich may be close with Schwartz, but I was hoping a Wehrmacht expert might know someone with a similar name who was a Staff Officer in the Army Personnel Office in 1938.

                    Name

                    Max,

An Oberst Schwartz was the Section chef for HPA Abt. 1. on the 1938/39 Rank and assignment list. This looks like your boy.

I'd agree on Oberst Schwartz, head of the P1 abteilung, first and last letters look like S and Z to me.

Does anyone know what happened to him? Did he obtain further promotion from Oberst in 1938?

It looks like Wilhelm Schwartz was promoted to Generalmajor in 1941. Does anyone have a photo of him please?
