    Remind me to never get anyone riled here..... my whole life history would be ferretted out......

    Glad I am a lowly fire guy, rather than a policeman. Lots of detectives here.

    I have enjoyed this thread for the information on the period, and on printed TR items. Thank you Beuchars for sharing this and do not take the feedback personally. Thanks for taking the time to explain things Max. Regardless of opinions on this item, this is educational.

      Such a fault would never be made on that high level ( for Hitler) of card making.
      Like Robin said, this is a clearly give away that the card is fake.
      With german "grundlichheit" this would never happen.

            how much more constructive you want than a spelling mistake on one of the cards of the Führer of the German Reich. Do you think something like this would be send out to the best and the best?

            These two lines on the card also make no sense.

            First there is the spelling mistake.

            Second - what is this supposed to mean? It seems like a non German speaking printer mixed Hoffmann AG, supplier of the Führers stationery and Sekretariat des Führers, neue Reichskanzlei. Or did Hoffmann have an office in the Führers Sekretariat in the Reichskanzlei?
            And if you want to say "Führer Sekretariat" in the new Reichskanzlei it should read neue Reichskanzlei and not neuen Reichskanzlei like it does on the card here in question.

                Dear Mr. beuchars,

                your given example is also wrong - it is Der Generalsekretär der Vereinten Nationen or his office would be the Sekretariat des Generalsekretärs

                Please go to this page www.duden.de - this is the offical German spelling book. In the search function type in Sekretariat or Sekretäriat like it says on the card and you will see what it says.

                    Hoffman's Berlin Offices

                    This is from my 1941 Berlin Telephone book (it comes in very handy with documents) . Note the office address and no use of A.G.-Aktiengesellschaft.

                                Some of the posts are getting really personal and in some instances very rude and petty and it just detracts from the debate on the card itself as the point of the thread gets lost.

                                Does anyone remember that it is Christmas which, if I recall, is the season of goodwill to all men?

                                If members cannot be civil then the thread may as well be closed.
