Interesting thread which drew me back to a book "Goodbye Transylvania" I have in my archives written by a former SS member Sigmund Heinz Landau an ethnic German who grew up in Transylvania Rumania and after the war he immigrated to England in 1948. The book was published in England in 1985. He served mainly on the russian front. In his book he introduces the History of Transylvania Rumania/Hungary. Hopefully I'm not infringing on any copyright protection by providing a scan of it but I thought it appropriate for this thread.Attached FilesLast edited by W Petz; 01-09-2015, 04:27 AM.

I believe he mentions bits and pieces throughout his book. The author died in 1998. He had a rather interesting career starting off in the Hitler Youth, Luftwaffe and then the Waffen SS. He was also used by the SS to spy on various German organizations during the war. The first publication by Breedon Books, Derby, GB in paperback is long out of print. There is however another book being published under the same title by Stackpole Military History Series and due to be released June 1, 2015 by AMAZON.

Sorry, I can't read what's written on the cufftitle, the picture is not sharp enough. All I can say is that this guy was born in Morawitza, Romania.
Kind regards, Peter

Perhaps they are wearing the BANAT cufftitle or Hermann von Salza ?
