Signed Fritz Wachtler 1927 Mein Kampf

I have a 1927 copy of Mein Kampf signed by Gauleiter Fritz Wachtler and also has his writing throughtout the book. I would like to sell this in the very near future but really have no idea as to the value of a signed book. Anyone have any ideas

    Hi Chris,

Can you show any pictures? I would think that authenticating the signature and writing might be the hard part. Since Wachtler was not a high NSDAP leader, I'm not sure his signature would add a large amount to the value.

    Best,
    Greg

      Greg,
Thanks for the responce. I`m new to the forum and pretty much all thumbs when it comes to the computer stuff but hope to be able to load pics soon. I do have a example of Fritz Wachtlers handwriting and its almost identical. The age of the ink also seems period. The dealer I got it from is an A-OK guy I`ve known for years, and trust him 100% so I`m confident its the real thing.

        Greg,
He was an early member of the NSDAP, Minister of the Interior for Thuringia, a Gauleiter and a SS-Obergruppenführer. Quite important high ranking posts I think.

          Max,

Yes, Wachtler was not a common figure, but I was thinking of the selling value. Unless a collector is particularly interested in Wachtler personally, his role in Nazi education, etc., I don't think his signature and writing in the book would add a large amount to the value.

          Best,
          Greg

Just an add on to Wachtler`s background. I believe he was also Secretary of Cultural Affairs in Thuringia and Minister of National Education. Also thanks for the advice.I guess as the saying goes, its only worth what someone is willing to yada, yada, yada.

While not great, the books appears to be in reasonable shape. The signatures differ quite significantly. Maybe they are too many years apart. Would be helpful if someone had more samples.

Here is one from his book 'Deutsche fern der Heimat', dated 1938.

Regarding the value, Weitze has had a Vol. II first edition like this one on his site for several months at EUR 450 that hasn't sold. Again, not taking the signature into account. I'm not trying to say that the signature isn't authentic or Wächtler wasn't an important figure, just that I think it would take a specialized buyer to offer much more for the book based on the signature.

                        der- has-fee,
You are absolutely correct. Even though the first name is similar, there are differences in the second. I stand corrected. Hopefully someone out there can help with an early signature because I do believe peoples signatures change over time.

                          Greg ,
I do agree with it being a specialized area and believe me , its not like you can just walk into any bookstore and offer it up. Most bookstores here in the Chicago area won`t even touch a Mein Kampf

I would not be a buyer of this autograph.
