        Hello

This Suetterlin writing is on the back of #3. Can someone translate it for me. It may ID someone in the photo and where it was taken.

        Regards
        Larry

              Hello Elwyn

You are totally correct. The officer in the photo is Generalleutnant Wolf Schede commander of 96 Infantry Division from August 1940 - 10 April 1942.

I found this pic in the album which shows the 96 Inf. Division symbol.

So the photos in my album must belong to this division.

Thanks for clearing this up for me.

              Regards
              Larry

Not bad for a NY guy munching left-over turkey after Thanksgiving deciphering Suetterlin text!!

Larrister, you are now the proud owner of the first picture of Wolf Schede known to men... men that want to share, that is.

Just to further confirm that the album is from 96 Div, the first two pictures are most like Gen Erwin Vierow. He was the first commander of 96 Div. RKT in 1941 when command already passed onto Schede.

For nice pics of Vierow... go look at http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtop...ierow&start=15

The dot on the back of the motorcycle could still be referring to 11 Div (Blue) under Boeckmann or to 21 Div (yellow) under Sponheimer, both with XXVIII Copr under Loch.

Once again, nice job and thanks vm for sharing.

                Cheers
                Elwyn
