Photo 336 comment: uniform is a converted Austrian type, styled after the regular German M36 tunics. This was common after the AnschluB to (re)uniform Austrian Heer troops, but I guess unused stocks were still being (re)issued as late as '44 judging by this picture, when they were also scraping the bottom of the manpower barrel! Wow!

Hey Jim,

I'm answering from Jim Haley house.....got to look at all his goodies in the Bunker. I hit the Bad Durkheim flea market this morning and found some nice photos that I will post when I return to Rotterdam on Sunday...right now trying to get use to this german key board...got to think German!!! Jim showed up after hitting the Heidelberg Flea Market which I didn't know was on the same day. Oh Well. I will be posting alot more M43 cap shots. Tomorrow I'm hitting the Flonheim Militaria Show. Got some money burning a hole in my pocket. Bill
