      My Spieß photograph

      Hello,

although I don't collect Panzer photographs I found one I kept, because it seemed to be rare. I hope it will find your attention.

      Kind regards

Is this an individual picture or is it out of one of your albums?

            Frank,

Correct.....my War Dept German Military Dictionary states the Spiess was the "Top Sergeant"...Top Kick" equivalent of being the First Sergeant on the US Army side. Bill

Thanks Köhler. But show us the whole picture.

"Der Spieß", literally translated as the spear. The point of the company, affectionally known as the "Mother" of the company.

              Nice to see you Frank!

                Panzer Der Spieß

Found another hiding in my photo albums. He's not in the black wrapper, but he's still panzer.

I'm not going to let this thread die yet! I have two Spiess photos that I will post tomorrow afternoon But I'm going to have to admit that even after a year of collecting and trying hard to work it out I still have not been able to work out what the Hell der Spiess is? I have a recollection it is to do with NCO training?? I havent asked before because its embarrasing and I just cant find it out, but as I have two pictures of them I might as well ask!

                      Panzer Der Spieß

                      Here is a closer look...

Actually, upon closer inspection I now wonder if that is a Der Spieß? I only see one piston ring on his sleeve, not two. It looks like he is also wearing the officer candidate stripes on his shoulder boards as well.

Thought that one with a field gray jacket could also be interesting.
