Those really are nice pictures. Here's the only such photo in my collection, in the back it reads "This is a photo of me, Harry Holt, in a German Uniform in Salzburgh, Austria, 1945".

Wanna know the kicker? I never took it out of the frame it came in, and when I did tonight I find that it's a recent print. I thought it was a print from the time when I bought it.... I guess Harry found himself a little gig printing his pictures and selling them for $5 a pop!

          I have a question.
Is there anyone who has photos of German soldiers with American booty? I would be interested to see those.

growing up in Tx I ran into quite a few "thunderbird" vets.As a young man Id go to VFW halls & offer my services from mowing lawns to painting houses etc in exchange for German "war trophies".My biggest score was from a man who I was in high school with his daughter. She told me her father had a whole attic full of "nazi crap".Well come to find out her father was at Dachau & heres 1 pic of some of the stuff he brought back....I'll dig everything out & photograph some later & I'll include pics of him also...enjoy

              RD,

Thanks for your input and commentary. I too ran into alot of vets while growing up in New Jersey doing basically the same cutting lawns and meeting many vets via schoolmates. Please do show more of your finds and thanks for sharing - Bill

              TWP,

I'm sure there are some German pics out there with war booty from British and American soldiers but I would like to keep the theme of this thread strictly GI war booty. You can start another thread with that idea if you like. Thanks for looking - Bill

That is a strange photo, Bill..........
It looks like all the wood work, grips etc., has been removed from the weapons.
                        Heading for the melting pot.........??

                          Great Thread Bill!

There is no caption on this photo but it would appear this American Colonel is possibly posing at the Berghof. A captured German Army helmet has been placed on the wall.

                            Normandy

This M-2 half-track crew from the 9th U.S. Infantry Division, 39th Inf.-Regiment’s Anti-tank Company is using two captured German helmets as head light covers. For GI Armor fans this half-track is marked ‘9-39-I’ on the left facing bumper and ‘AT-15’ on the right facing bumper. Above this, painted on the fender is the AAA0 with a line through it. This was the unit’s motto in emblem form meaning ANYTHING, ANYWHERE, ANYTIME BAR NOTHING.

                              More AAA0

                              Another photo of 9th U.S. Infantry Division, 39th Inf.-Regiment’s Anti-tank Company GI’s.

Apparently these guys don’t care much for their buddy’s balalaika playing and have drawn captured pistols.
The center section of a large party flag is used as a ground cover. Note that the GI’s steel pots have the AAA0 unit emblem painted them.

Center sections of large party flags have been laid out in the street so U.S. Armored vehicles can drive over them.
