I was thinking Romania/Transylvania & Bulgaria myself. So I covered all the bases as many of those countries in the regions of the Balkans wore similar types of hats in old traditional dress.

A couple of Rudolf (soldier on the right). Can anybody figure out what is going on with the colonial soldier?? From what I gather on the back it seems like Rudolf is referring to him as "Pik" or "Spade". Then there is a reference to being a prisoner in 1944. I am guessing "Rudy" and Walter were POWs of the English in Tunis in '44 and "Pik" was a "friend"?? Their uniforms look like they were issued that day??
Any light you can shed is appreciated.

Another POW pic. Large 8 x 10 of veterans of Afrika. Some magnificent uniforms and footwear.
The soldier on the left looks like he's wearing Feldpost boards and the soldier on the right shows clear evidence of a removed AFRIKAKORPS cufftitle and PAB.Comment

Hi Todd....Glad that you have some new portraits for us to see....nice ones especially the SS Sleeve eagle being worn as a breast eagle. That Officer is also sporting a "Schmisse" a dueling scar from his student days. Thanks for sharing them.
