The KC photo was taken on christmas eve 1944!!! Looked at the backside of the photo (thanks Hasse) and the text in german is "Heiligabend 1944".
I think he was nominated for the KC and that it was rejected for some reason. With the tunic came a plastic pocket, about A4 size, which once contained a document. Some parts of the text from the document is still visible on the plastic. What we have been able to read is that there were writings about a KC deed and that the document was sent from higher staff in Paris. To be continued!

Any chance one can find out the exact date when Liebeskind was promoted to Leutnant?

Hmmmm,...personal inscripted date next to the picture for this soldier sais 1.2.1941,...two months difference.

Is it possible that the soldier got the news before actual formal promotion, which was then registered in the records?

Liebeskind's NARA file is very short. I can post more images later, but here is the relevant entry from his Dienstlaufbahn.

Yes, but 2 months... Thats allot.
Its hard to read, but the above image of MJC gives a second date if you read the whole line, 30-4-1941.
I'm collecting anything related to the towns Castricum and Bakkum during WWII.

Maybe that was a battlefield-commission and the April date is the actual approving by the officials later on??

Dates are really close. We really need the portrait picture of Liebeskind to get a better comparison.

No, he went through officer training school from January 15 to April 30, 1941. From January to May 1941 at the Infanterie-Schule in Döberitz, Germany.

He was promoted to Lt. after successful officer exam on April 30, 1941. In fact it states that he was promoted to Leutnant on April 30 with effective date of April 1, 1941

Then, in May of the same year he was transferred to Krad-Schutzen-Btl. 160 stationed in Serbia at the time.

I don't see any service in Africa

Some more info about this unknown soldier:

Start of military service 1.9. 1939 end 1.8.1945
Leutnant 1.2.1941 (connection to Idar Oberstein and 21 panzer division Afrika Korps) From Marz 41 to April 1943 Afrika korps.
                            Oberleutnant 1.2.1943
                            Hauptmann 1.2.1945

If somebody can get any info of Oberleutnant Treptau (stationed in Paris after 1943) it would be greeat

Here is what I got on Treptau.

According to my sources he served not in the 21.Panzer-Division was never in Africa.

1941 - In June of 1941 Oberleutnant Treptau served as supply officer in the staff of Reiter-Regiment 2.

                              1942 - In December 1941, when Reiter-Regiment 2 became part of the new established Panzer-Regiment 24, Treptau became a staff officer in Panzer-Regiment 24.

                              1943 - Treptau survived Stalingrad and served in the re-created Panzer-Regiment 24.

                              1944 – October 1944, Rittmeister Treptau was staff-squadron commander of Panzer-Regiment 24

OK here is what i gathered until now:

Full name of the soldier: Heinz Adalbert Treptau

Start of mil. service 01.09.1939, entlassung 01.08.1945

                                Promotions:
                                1.2.41 Leutnant
                                1.2.43 Oberleutnant
                                1.2.45 Hauptmann

In Febr./Marz 1941 he was transfered as Komp.Führer in Panzer regiment of 21. Panzer division in Afrika korps and stayed there untill April 1943. After this he was transfered to new 21. panzer division in Paris - Vincennes.

This data i got from Deutsche Dienststelle:

Treptau, Heinz, geb. 02.07.1917 im Memel

                                MELDUNG: TRUPPENTEIL: BEMERKUNGEN:
                                Ohne datum: Kraftfahr-Ersatz-Kompanie 157 (erkenungsmarkenausgabe)
                                30.10.1941: 3./Kleine Kraftwagen-Kolonie 33 -Dgd: Leutnant (Unterstellt: 15. panzer division, Einsatzraum: Afrika
                                13.04.1942: Division Nachschubführer 33
                                01.08.1944: Feldersatz-Bataillon 200, unterstellt 21. Panzer Division,dgd. Oberleutnant (Einsatzraum Normandie - Als vermisst gemeldet)

The last part "Als vermisst gemeldet" I dont know if this means that he was gone missing in Normandie / killed in action on 01.08.1944 or all the data from this date on got missing. He was promoted to Hauptmann in februar 1945 and the entlassund from military service is writen to be 01.08.1945 so i guess that he couldnt got killed in action and this really refers to missing military data.

The two pictures of him wearing the RK, 3 TDBs and CCC supposed to be from Dezember 1944 but in May 1944 nothing is reported jet of being awarded.

Here is the link where i posted the reports of him destroying 3 armored vehicles and some other reports
                                http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=835748

And one more thing,...i have seen this picture many times but nowhere is mentioned who the driver is. Pointers in the pictures state "ich - me" so Treptau.

Only mark until now that i saw next to this pictures was Rommel with 15th panzer 1941.

Any advice where could i get more info of him? Maybe even contacting the relatives?

His wife name was Hermine (born Schmid) on 12.6.1921. They had a boy (naxos said that he was born in early 1944 which goes well with the picture of Treptau and his famely in dezember 1944).
