what SS units were in Ukraine in August 1941?

Dear esteemed Battle and Individual Research aficionados:
I have been long researching this variant "MK box" for years, and lately the grave society in Germany updated their records and the name and date of death on box match. However, I am now trying to find out where he died and and what W-SS formation he was in.

Vorname: Otto Hermann Friedrich
Dienstgrad: Kanonier
Geburtsdatum: 09.07.1920
Geburtsort: Borstel
Todes-/Vermisstendatum: 03.09.1941
Todes-/Vermisstenort: Kachowka

As place of death is Kachowka I believe that is modern Kakhovka in Ukraine.
If so then those W-SS near Kakhovka in August 1941 were these 3 below

SS Panzer div Das Reich: offensive towards Smolensk

SS Panzer div Totenkopf :in Baltic states

5th SS Panzer Div Wiking: jun-Dec in Galicia & Ukraine

Does anyone know more or can correct me in any mistakes?

Hello Michael ; well besides the SS Units you've mentioned before it was fighting there the 1. SS-Infanterie Brigade (Mot). It was composed of the SS IR 8 and SS IR 10.

29.08.1941.

Carrying out raking tasks, the 1. SS-Brig reached the line Owrutsch-Norinsk-Weleniki-Listwin-Kuliki-Rudnia Czerwonka.

01.09.1941.01.09.1941.

The 1. SS-Infanterie Brigade (Mot) was detached from 6 AOK and reached (after several days of marching) the Dnjepr by Nikopol. Nearby was deployed the SS LAH (you did not mention it). The bulk of LAH got across the Dnjepr on Sep 11 1941 by Kachowka.

03.09.1941.

The 1. SS-Infanterie Brigade (Mot) together with the Sich Div 454, 444 y 213 plus a security Slovakian unit were subordinated to Befh.d.Rückw.H.Gebiet Süd (Commander of the Rear area Army Group South).

As i'm sure you know, as he was a kanonier then you're looking for an artillery regiment or battalion. Also, as we're talking 1941, then none of those divisions were 'panzer' at that time.

Simon, I got my info on who was there (if Kachowka is where I think it is as Kakhovka) from a book I found titled "Slaughterhouse:The Encyclopedia of the Eastern Front" wherein it states exactly what I wrote as to times and groups of any SS .
Now that being said, for all I know the book is worthless and you are correct. I have no problem accepting that.

Do you have any ideas as to what groups were there in september 41?

Or where exactly Kachowka is geographically?

Hello Michael ; you should take in account that...

30.07.41.

The SS Flak Abt which was organizing since May 1941 at Gleiwitz was disolved and the 2.Flak-Bttr., SS-Ustuf. Brock was sent to SS-IR 10, the 3.Flak-Bttr., SS-Ostuf.Reutzel, was detached to SS-IR 8. (Stöber,Flak der W SS,S.365). Hence the 1. SS-Infanterie Brigade (Mot) got its kanoniers after all.

The LAH had one SS Flak Abt and assault guns also.

AFAIK, Kachowka was located by the Dnjepr in the sector of Nikopol. Today it seems that it exist a dam there and I could locate the town of Nowo Kachowka.

In September, 1941 in Kakhovka there were parts of LSSAH. I have photoconfirmation of it, and also I have literature in which about it it is told!
