The 7th Luftwaffe Divison was close by and the next division on the Channel coast was the 336th Infantry Division. Both this one and the 302 were static divisions.

1/JG2 and 2/JG2 were stationed near Dieppe so was II/JG 26. KG2 and KG40 were also on hand.

Thats about as much as ive got but surely a google would come up with much more as its a battle that has received majot attention in the West.

            Hello,

I have a Soldbuch and Wehrpass from a member of the independent ski unit "3./Jagerbatallion 3" His unit just happened to be at Dieppe as well.
I do not know why a Ski-Jager unit would be in the area, perhaps they were on leave after many hard months in Russia during the Spring and Winter, and were quickly called up to stop the invasion. I would love to know more information. Good luck in your research.

            Regards

                  Thanks! I didn't know that!

Indeed, otherwise a little vacation, but I don't think that is the safest spot for a little rest. Thanks for your share if you have others!!!!

Nice Soldbuch. I own the dagger of an Oblt. der Reserve who served with GR 570, 302 ID at Dieppe. The same exact phrase is written in his Wehrstammbuch regarding his involvement in "smashing" the British landing attempt

                      Hi,

A friend of mine which served with the 5./Lg.Nachr.Rgt. Holland
(located in Belgium or Holland) was sent to Dieppe.
I think that other units was transferred there as Germans did not know if it was a major invasion or not.

I think that 10th Panzer and LSSAH were also in the mix to be sent to Dieppe but were eventually not when the OKW realised it wasnt a full fledged invasion force.

                          Thanks!

                          Any Flak regiments/divisions?
                          Panzerdivisions?

I've a little list not and I'm sure there were more divisions. Hope I can find them also and I'm getting pretty far because of you, thanks!

                            Sturmkreuz

The bulk of the fighting at Dieppe was done by the 302nd Infantry Divsion that was in situ. If you have a good level of English the Osprey book on Dieppe is a good basic text that covers the battle, though its much better researched for the Allied side than the German

Go here for a lengthy list of books devoted to the Dieppe landing in 1942. Some of them are recent and quite good, and should identify all of the German units involved, especially those by Campbell, Canadian Armed Forces, Ford, Franks, Neillands and Villa:
