    Well thank you! hehe but i havn't got the smalest idea what those figures mean.
    Can you maybe tell me what the figure from "Aufkl.Abt." means ???
    I'm collecting anything related to the towns Castricum and Bakkum during WWII.
    Also soldbucher from 116pzdiv. And 1944-1945 eastfront pockets, kampfgruppe and Oder front.

      You might want to bookmark the above link. There are a number of sites that have these glossaries. You can also search Google for "German military abbreviations" or similar buzz word combinations.

      As for the symbols, which may be what you are talking about, the pole on top of the box with the flag means Aufklärungs- (reconnaissance), but I don't know what the downward pointing arrow at the base of the pole signifies. The verticle line with the two dots means machine gun (4 heavy plus 9 light). The open triangle with the letter "m" means medium mortars (it had 2 of them).

        The symbol refers to a Volkswagen equipped recce company. Medium mortars by this time in the war refer to the 8.cm Gr.W.34.

        The term Sollgliederung means authorised organisation and equipment. In other words when the division was first established, this is what it was authorised to receive. However, there could be a huge difference to what it was supposed to have and what it actually had in reality, that's the nature of war.
        Collecting German award documents, other paperwork and photos relating to Norway and Finland.
