Research - Where to start?

I am interested in finding more about a couple of named Waffenrock i have. Both have a surname, and unit stamps etc, but both are EM.
So what is the likely hood that i could find info on these guys, and where should i start?

Any help would be appreciated on this. I can post more details of names etc, and units if needed.

Hi Lewis,

With a not too common (like Meier/Meyer) surname and a unit you can start your search at the WASt in Berlin.
You can find them on the internet and fill-in your question.
Know that they charge you for their work, but it isn't expensive.
It will take some time before you will get an answer, can take 1/2 to 1 1/2 year.
