    Clemens Forell, legendary Gebirgsjäger

    Dear all,

Anyone who has read or seen So Weit die Fuesse tragen, or "As Far as My Feet Will Carry Me", is surely interested of reading the war record of the man, and seeing a photo of the REAL Clemens Forell. I have so far been unable to google to any info on the real man behind the nom-de-plume.

In the 1950******180;s TV-series based on the book GJR 100 is mentioned in a scene. Any truth to that?

FYI this is the website of the 2001-made movie based on the book, incl an English-language version: www.soweitdiefuessetragen.de

BTW the only fault I noticed in the movie seems to be that they missed putting the Edelweiss on the cap in the opening scene (see website trailer******180;s start). Or perhaps he was not a Gebirgsj******228;ger when that scene took place? Otherwise the movie is very good at small historical details.

    Cheers,

    Lars

    Gr******252;******223; Gott J******228;ger Lars,

Looks like a great movie. I'll need to see if I can find it here in the USA. I will also have to find a English version of this book.

The author, Josef Martin Bauer, was a Gebirgsj******228;ger during the war and was in the Caucasus with the 1. Gebirgsdivision. He wrote a book about that called "Caucasus Adventure."

      Servus,

There is a version of the movie with English subtitles - but not where you might expect it to be...

More about the English subtitles in this film thread: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=142327

      Alles gute,

      Lars
