Sorry to go on about your badge, Gene, but the eagle is a hollow sheet of Buntmetall that goes on top of the badge and should not have any paint on it. And to get rid of my full load and then be silent:

I find it strange that all sperate silver parts of Gene´s badge have the exact same silver colour. Maybe the eagle is a bit different but that is hard to tell from the pic. If you take a look at Mark´s and my example, there is some great silver tone variety between body, catch, eagle, pin, hinge. This could be because of different aging of the wash of course and wear, but I still think it is strange in connection with the badly painted lightning, where in addition the sequence of the usual painting process seems to have been altered (first grey paint job then silver paint job as opposed to first silver WASH then grey paint job).

Now I will shut up or Gene will fire that Glock on me

    Cheers, Frank H.

Ill admit, I also find this silver a bit odd. I pulled some of the pictures off this thread though and did a detailed comparison, and although I could find a few points that one might contend, overall, it seems as if these are the same badges. I couldnt find enough to really justify probable cause that Gene's badge isnt what it appears to be.

What bothers me though, is that I thought these were supposed to have dark wreaths, per design? I really cant help but wonder if this was colorised later (does Ted Turner collect?).

I have been aware of silver wreath Luft GAB badges, but ths is the first up close examination I have been exposed to. Does anyone else have a silver wreath Luft GAB to offer for comparison?

In looking closely at the eagle, it doesn't have any paint on it. It's tarnished in a couple of places, but no paint. No worries Frank about me turning my Glock on you! You have to have a thick skin in this hobby as we all know. As for my badge's originality, I've never doubted it for a second; differences existed and mine is no exception.
