There are many clasps in collections and currently on the market which can be seen utilizing such crude "field" like methods to attach the pendants. While Rich is technically correct that these/this could have been applied post war, I believe most collectors accept this/these type of attachment method(s) as period original. As with all pieces, close examination is warranted. Even a clasp with the "proper" attachment method can be done post war.
I would have no issues with this piece in my collection and am envious of the new owner.
