        Hi Tom,

Thanks for the additional pics. For me, there is no doubt that this is not an Osang produced clasp. The hardware is not what we know of other Osang products and the rivetting is also different. Also notice how large the triangular cutouts are, much larger than the typical small "bullet"-shaped ones that we see on Osang clasps.

When I look at badges like this, it is always a 2-phase process:

#1: Does it match other known wartime originals?

        #2: Is it a fake?

For me, there is no doubt that this is not an Osang product. But that doesn't necessarily mean its a fake. It can still be original at this point (i.e., maybe produced by a subcontractor for Osang and marked for them, etc.).

Where it gets bad for me is that not only does this badge not match other Osang products, it does match the fake Juncker like the one I posted. Not only does the obverse design match......but the hardware is the same. It has the same exact hinge and catch. The rivetting method and shape is the same. Even the large triangular cutouts are the same. That would be enough for me to say that your Osang is likely a fake, and made by the same fakers as the Juncker clasp.

        Tom
If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

            Thanks

I never thought this one to be questionable clasp and whenever I have showed picks to someone it has always been said to be the nice original. As also here in the beginning of thread. And now there is lots of details that does not match for Osang but as Tom said it still might be period made by subcontractor etc.So I would think that if its faked it really is very dangerous and can fool lots of people.Very nice that it was discussed before I would put it on e-stand and thanks again for Tom.But what about Osang makermark. Is this also wrong or just too soft.

I thought it was pretty safe as well.
I posted it on Militaria Fundforum where it got

I already contacted Tom that I will take it back.
I'm no expert on these and have to rely on what other collectors say about it.
The Juncker clasp in this thread is mine as well, and I also threw away more money on another Osang Schlachtflieger which was deemed fake.

I would never intentionally sell a fake because I know very well what it feels like to be screwed over.
On top of that I regard Tom as a friend, wouldn't want to waste a good friendship over a hand full of $...

              Best regards,
              Ben

Hi, and to nicely finalise this thread I have to say that Ben has contacted me but I have not jet anaswered him. Will contact after this reply. What I was going to say that Ben as valuable expert here in WAF in knowledge of EK1 and EK2 would never going to sell fakes.I personally honour him highly and even if he was not ready to take it back (but he is) I would never ever throw away our friendship for some money.I would take it like next lesson in this world of f... fakers. This is just what happened.
