well you have some people who think that the German Tanker I.D. Flag is real, (with the balkin cross) and no photo's or documentation and they stand by it and even buy one????

for me I now feel this badge fit's in the same boat as the i.d. flag, i do agree that some people buy an item because some big name dealer is selling it, and they beleave everything the seller may say. I think if detlev gave a letter of authenticity that a pile of crap was from Rommel there would be someone out there who would buy it. AND they would stand by it til found out different!!!

I fully beleave that alot of people buy an item because it came from some high end collector or seller... even if theres some controversy in the item...

    is that good or bad??

It doesnt even come close, the flag has a incredible amount of direct vet linkage. Totally different than what is discussed here. Most were given these flags or purchased for little money from the veteran since the war ended. There has never been a big dealer issue concerning these.
It shouldn't have even been brought up as the two are dramaticly different.

I said something because your relating things that are not the same and clearly cannot be compared to the topic at hand.

Settle down there, your comparing orange and apples and Perry called you on it. You need to let that whole incident go, it's affecting the way you participate in the forum.

This badge has always gotten my attention. I was told by an old time collector who is now dead (Dr. Miles Middlestone, MD) that the real ones were like the one Detlev sold. These were NOT maker marked, and look out for the souval clasp. I've only seen two like mine, both times at the MAX in 99 & 96. I posted mine about a year or so ago in a thread/poll about these.

Here is the old thread, the photos of mine are great for close up detail.

                      WARLORD states:

                      2. No period photo has ever been found of the badge in wear.

This is a very good point, but were is the evidence of the snippers badge? The small batle badge, retired pilots badge. The Imperial pilots badge being worn in 1939-1945?
Didn't General Student wear the Imperial Pilot's Badge during WW2? Minor point. The Luftwaffe Tank Assault Badge is supposed to be the rarest of the rare but all of a sudden three appear for sale on dealers' internet sites at the same time. That is truly unbelievable. It must be because of the economic crisis. People need money.

I am still asking myself why nobody has snapped up the ones on www.collectrussia.com or www.warrelics.com . You could get them certified by Detlev. You wouldn't even have to send them to Hamburg. He could just send you a copy of the one he must have done for the badge he just sold. Come on! A $4500 badge for $2900! That's a good deal. Detlev could buy it himself and make a good profit. He would sell it quick.

This one is up on Hermann Historica. Eagle appears to be an add-on like the late-war LW GABs. Hmm, that is quite a few of these in such a short period...

                          Yes, but again!

These other pieces that have been posted DO NOT match the one sold by Detlev Niemann!

You guys do realize that there is suppost to be two versions of this badge right. There is the Luftwaffe Tank Badge in Silver with a wide pin and a silver eagle that is seperately attached to the badge. There is also the Luftwaffe Tank Badge in Black with a thin pin. The latter is suppost to be a one-piece zinc variant. These can be seen on pages 141 and 142 of Forman's 3rd Edition.

The ones in the Forman book are fake. The ones for sale now are fake. The one sold by Niemann is fake. Every one that has ever been sold is fake. They are all fake. They did not exist during WWII. They are all fake. They are all fake. They are all fake. Will you people please wake up?
