If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

What looks me interesting is the lack of the detail on the leaves, also the "arrow" is a bit deformed and the catch is a variant I haven't seen before.

Looks awfully soft (but I like the catch).

I like it, who is the maker?

I've never seen anything like it Tom. It does not look like a modern casting to me and I like the hardware.

From what I see specially the reverse I would guess its an FLL in Tombak.

I guess you will put us out of our misery later Tom. IMO, period or not, this is an ugly badge, It would not be high on my list of desirable badges. The definition and detail are not what we would normally expect in a period clasp so I have to admit I wouldn't normally give this a second glance before moving on. Please tell all.

                      Hi Tom

Like the others I can't deny that it looks very awfull, but it is ok for me.

Like Leroy I really like that catch, and even the whole set up. If you look at the close ups of the catch you'll also see very faint sawmarkt from the handfiling which is a very good sign to me. Wear pattern on the arrow and oakleafs is very natural.

If I would have to put a maker on this one purely for the sport I'd say Deumer by the set up. It features an early Deumer flatsheet catch in combination with a very straight pin and hinge as on the ek1's.
                      Kind regards,
                      Giel

Well Tom, with the downward pointing arrow this clasp would be for long range fighters and a later addition to the suite of flight clasps. I keep looking at it and it still looks ugly to me - sorry!

                            Hi Tom,
Has it been mechanically cleaned and refinished? The features seem very worn down.
