"Round O" Osang Fighter clasp

I just said I liked it, Tom, not that I could show another example of it! (Of course, I could spend the next 10 years of my life looking at 1000's of badges, pin on eagles, etc., for one, but somehow I don't think that would be a good use of my time.)

I agree Leroy, life is too short to spend it looking at catches all day and night, I don't want you to do that. As you know, some of us live and die by the reverse hardware on badges, for me it is the essence and "signature" of a maker. Whether we can ever find this type of catch on an original..or a fake, we will have to wait and see.

Thanks for the pics and dimensions of your Osang LRDF. I like your clasp alot, looks to have all the aspects I look for on original wartime Osang clasps. The dimensions also confirm the thought that the clasp in question is a smaller, casting of an original like the one you show.

The maker mark on your example looks to be the "textbook" Osang maker mark, with elongated "O". Although it is very lightly stamped in and not full, the letters we can see all look typical IMO.

Is this the only Osang Fighter you have? If you have any others, would you mind posting some dimensions on those as well, for consistency purposes?

Yes, I believe so. Although a different clasp, it would help to establish consistency that Osang used a certain size for all their LW clasps. We have seen this is true with Osang Bombers and SRDFs.....and now with your LRDF (thanks). So rounding it out with Osang Schlachts would be additional evidence of consistency.

Even their nightfighters too. These were just regular day fighters that have the wreath painted, so dimensions from them would be relevant as well.

I don´t have that many, Stefan! Perhaps four. I have bought them here at the WAF e-stand (all from different collectors). I have offered one clasp for sale, but withdrew it, as somebody disliked it, because of the round o.
I realize, that no matter how much I believe there are good round o´s, the market (at least here at the WAF) has been destroyed by this unproven theory. Of course you shall always be careful and keep your eyes open!
