I bet you can pick that stuff out with a toothpick. It's exactly the same stiff that gets left on medals that people think are silver for some strange reason ....

Sadly mine were cleaned before I obtained them & even though I'm not a fan of cleaning (other than dirt etc) I'll just wait for them to get that attractive look again someday.
