Whoever gets it, will be the first in my book to own one. And please post better pictures, wight, and measurements.

      Does look very promising!

I didn't know Manion's still existed! I guess the new owner will pay Ron a hefty percentage.

I like everything I see - very, very interesting. I even like the way the hinge buckles in a little. Man, this screams Assmann!

No they weren't Steve, but I think the Assmann catalog we know of dates from around 1938 or 39. The Glider badge wasn't introduced until December 1940.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

On one hand, I like what I see. On the other hand, 'If it's too good to be true, it probably isn't'.

Are the spun rivets on the Glider the same diameter as on other Assmann pieces? Also, would love to see the edges of the wreath and eagle, and check for shear marks.

            Verrrrry Interesting!

(As a side note, Manion's is offering a GWL RO/AG with clipped talons, as an original Air Gunner. Not quite the same, in my book.)

Some side shots of the hinge and hook would be nice.
Never seen or heard of one before but it looks promising.

The wreath has very soft edges at the back, other things look like Assmann though, but knowing what they're able to do I'm rather sceptic at 1st stage ..
Typical a badge to turn inside out, before waving the wallet.

Very very interesting! The only Assmann GB's I've seen have been fakes...if it is good, ground breaking for us GB collectors. Sure like the discuss aspects of it!

Interesting note that the soft edges are just on the outside of the wreath. On the inside, the edges are quite sharp.

Always the skeptic here ..... assuming that Manion's is (still) an auction house .... why would anyone want to sell such a rare authentic badge?

                          Just wondering?

Much harder to believe that Assmann probably only made 2 of these gliders..
One with a bit of provenance would be nice to compare, but are there any ?
Stijn would and should know ..

I think Stijn will only back up the types Juncker, BSW and the 2nd pattern type.

I'm skeptical on this piece. I think the rivets are too small and the raised 'A' is quite easy to fake.

It may be my eyes, or it may be digital imaging, but the catch in the full reverse shot looks different than the 'catch' in the close-up shot. Anybody else see what I am trying to describe. In the full reverse, the catch almost looks bent and 'pinched' closed. In the close-up, the catch looks perfect.

Maybe I've been sniffing too much glue, I dunno.
