Hey Scott, it makes us non-photo gurus scream and yell when we cant get those "perfect" pictures that others can always manage.

Did you take these indoors with the flash on? I suggest you wait for a nice bright day outside with good light and try again. They look much better under normal lighting conditions.

But ... I must say, these pics are pretty good so far

I would suggest using MACRO on a simple camera. But if you have manual settings set the ISO to 100, the F-stop to F11, and work the shutter speed to take the shot with ambient light or a lightbox using a tripod. Also, make sure to spot meter. That will give you photos like this:

                Scott

You have some very rare badges there. Would you be offended if I asked you...do you clean your badges? I don't see a speck of tarnish anywhere on them yet they are lightly worn examples. Take my early Assmann pilot for example....I would expect your early Observer to at least display the same tarnish/dirt.

Nice obervers! In addition to the recommendation on shooting in natural light, I'd try and setup the tripod so you're shooting them straight on, rather than at an angle.

                      Hi

Nice pictures but they could be better if you use a photo tent.
The light on the badge gonna be better

I post a picture there i have use my photo tent

                          I agree with Darrell here.

Here is my example. I have a small, old and cheap Sony digital camera.
In day without sunlight I can take these pictures.

I use the biggest scale of picture in camera settings, then I use photostudio to cut it down so it can fit the forum propertly.
                          .

                            Nice badges!

I just got a Nikon also Scott. Keep messing with it.

I would agree, never use a flash. However...

Here is what I can do while it is snowing out....and almost dark.

Took these in the bathroom a few minutes ago!

                            CEJ marked....

                                Nice and close...

This one came in a grouping to an RKT Stuka officer.
