    Eagle Analysis

    Gents,
I am hoping you can help me solve a little puzzle. A friend just sent photos of a rare wide-pin Wiedmann Flak, but the eagle looks a bit off. At first I thought it was a dead-ringer for a fake you find on Brehmer-marked fake badges. Then when I looked again I wondered if mine just had a blunt beak. I then pulled photos of other Wiedmann flaks and they all had a similar blunt beak.

Here is the question - is this a variation of the Wiedmann eagle? We know Juncker, for example, changed their eagle. Is it just one with a beak that has not been blunted? Or is this a fake eagle - the same found on a host of fakes?

I will post a comparison of the eagles and then show the full badges below, including accepted Wiedmann flaks.

    Many thanks!
    Marc

There is no doubt about the two fakes. The BREHMER fake has a bad Deumer wreath and the Wiedmann-type eagle. The BR has a bad Brehmer wreath and the Wiedmann-type eagle. I am also totally confident about the two originals. The badge in question looks good to me. I like the finish, and it has what I expect - but the eagle throws me and so I would like to discuss it.
              Many thanks!

Hello Mark ,looking very close you can see very little variation in the wreat. It could be becose it's little angled or for the die was very used.In my opinion is a fake ,a very good fake. The wreath semms to be soft, laking some particulars the edge of the leafs are soft in comparison with the sharp original ones.It could be a cast copy of an original wiedeman and the well known fake eagles.
In the comparison photos I pointed the differences matching in color.
I hope my english it's not so bad you can understand what I mean.
                Ciao

I am not so sure yet. The reverse can just be a paralax issue. I am more interested in the EAGLE. WHY do we see this eagle on so many different fakes - and is it the SAME eagle as on the seemingly good one? As for the obverse, that might be wear. I will ask for weight and measurements.

                    ANYONE?
