    Gary,

Can you give us some more closeups of the catch and hinge?

    Tom
If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

      Tom:
I'd be pleased to take some further pics of the catch and hinge. Need a day or so.

        Hi Gary,

Maybe I am making a bad analogy, but for me, the Juncker makermark issue is like a Mercedes-Benz hood insignia. Stuttgart has tunred out millions of autos at the M-B factory. The Mercedes logo has never changed from it's original shape and design. If all of a sudden one day, a different Benz shape logo turns up, it will most certainly be scrutinized.

To date, any Juncker makermark with the top arm has always been on known fake badges. So you can see what you are up against!

        Regards,
        Mark

I'm not a Luftwaffe collector, if you or the other members have examples of the bad "J", on repro badges, for my own education, how about you guys posting examples of what you are claiming is your evidence that my flight tech badge is a repro. That is only fair.

Per our Moderator Tom's request, I am posting closeups of the hinge, C hook, and needle. I've also added additional pictures of the enamel.

                                Hmmmm!

Not a typical Juncker hook, not a typical Juncker pin and, as well as being in the wrong place, definatly not a typical Juncker maker mark. The reverse looks very sqiggly, the signs of filing all around the outside edges speaks for a worked on casting. The wonky swastika also looks strange. Naturally a casting will take over a lot of charachteristics from the original badge, which is why it looks like the Civil Pilot you used to have. They did a good job on the enamel though and the diameter of the hinge roller looks pretty good as well.

In these days of mass repros a badge must be proved to be authentic on its merits. Not that "nobodys seen one before so it must be good", more likely its the other way around.
Listen to Miller and Calvert and Durante, they are not trying to make you badge bad, they are trying to help you, and believe me, they have probably handeled more Juncker badges between them than anybody else.

I´m sure Tom will post you a host of bad badges with that maker mark from his extensive data base.
Anyway, I hope it didn´t cost you to much.
