Hello Gentlmen,
Just a point in reference to price point from dealers from my own experiences, I think Rick will agree with me here.
People such as Stephen Wolfe and Bill Shea are professional dealers that have to include in there price point travel, meals, time and inventory.
So when one of these guys jumps on a plane to buy a collection from Europe these exspenes have to be worked into the price. They also have to work on a highier profit margin because this is thier source of income. Add to that all the experience that goes along with it as well as a real pieces.
Detlev runs his business on a totally different premise, the once a week update is a compulisive buy. So many of the members jump on anything, when the same pieces are offered on the E-stand at about the same price or less which has never made any sense to me. I have scored so many better deals on the E-stand than all three of these dealers combined. Detlev, i also feel is able to offer better price points than Stephen and Bill just because he is based in Germany.
I currently placed quite a few items on the E-stand for trade thinking that this might work out better for everyone, no money out of pocket just trade. One response, go figuire. John ( militarybuyer) had placed up a bunch of really good pieces that I felt were well below thier value. i would have bought the whole lot if I didn't have money tied up at the time. That stuff should have sold in a day, back to the e-stand dilema.
Ahhhhh..........just some thoughts.
Best,
JD
