Good thread here. Thanks Mike for your good technical explanations.

I've seen more early Juncker Pilots Badges so am more familiar with them. As for the Juncker POs, I've seen a few of them, but am still trying to perfect the technique of what to look for in the finish of the eagle and the wreath.

It seems that the first pattern badges marked CEJ are mostly nickel silver, and finished off appropriately, whether they are a Pilot or Pilot-Observer variation. The strike is the same. As for the first pattern badges marked C.E.JUNCKER, there seems to be a transition toward Tomak somewhere along the line.

Since this thread is about the PO badge, I don't want to stray off course too far, but will post some generic CEJ and CEJUNCKER images, all first pattern.

    Mark

    First Pattern CEJ Pilot Badge

    AND THEN:

First Pattern C.E.JUNCKER Pilot Observer Badge

    First Pattern C.E.JUNCKER Pilot Badge

    AND ALSO:

First Pattern C.E.JUNCKER Aluminum P/O Badge
