    Nice Luftwaffe grouping sold by Hermann Historica

    Hauptmann Willi Dous (1916 - 1941), Ritterkreuzträger des Kampfgeschwaders 3

    -Two Pilot Badges, silver-plated, with a certificate from 13 December 1935
    -Long Service Medal for 4 years, with a certificate (8./Fighter Squadron 153) for 1 April 1938 signed by Col. Sommé. Medal of October 1, 1938 with 1939 certificate.
    -Two Iron Crosses 2nd Class 1939 on the ribbon, citation for 12 December 1939 signed by Luftwaffe General Wimmer.
    -Two Iron Crosses 1st Class 1939, one flat version, maker "3", and one cambered version. Citation for 25 June 1940 signed by Luftwaffe General Sperrle.
    -Spanish Cross in Gold with Swords, gilded silver (somewhat worn) with the hallmark "900" on the back.
    -Cruz de Guerra and Medalla de la Campana (on a three piece medal bar with an additional 4 Year Service Medal and 1 October 1938 Medal with the Prague Castle bar). There is a letter of transmission for the three missing citations for 5 September 1940 for those medals
    -Two Wound Badges in Black, one openwork version. Citation for 1 March 1941.
    -Clasp for Fighter Pilots in Silver, silver-plated, citation for 25 May 1941 signed by Colonel von Chamier-Glisczinski.
    -Two Clasps for Fighter Pilots in Gold, gilded, one base metal, Citation for 1 June 1941,
    -Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross 1939, blackened iron core, silver frame and suspension ring, unmarked early Juncker version, on a sewn ribbon provided with buttons. Comes with the preliminary certificate for 7 July 1941 and a letter of transmission to Mrs. Dous asking her "to take this into custody on behalf of her husband, missing in action" (transl.), each signed by Brigadier Cabanis.
    congratulatory telegram and letter from the later Field Marshal von Richthofen - signed in ink- along with letters from Colonel Meister, Lt. Col. Deichmann, and Major General Loerzer, also signed in ink, and a telegram from Field Marshal Kesselring.
    -A four-piece ribbon bar with the IC II, Service Medal, 1 October 1938 Medal with the Prague Castle bar, and the Medalla de la Campana.
    -Bulgarian Pilot's Badge with letter of transmission from Captain Werner Kuhn. Letter of transmission for the Bulgarian Order of Bravery IV Class for 27 April 1942 to his wife.
    -officer's dagger with applied miniature of the Spanish Cross. Manufacturer, "Rich. Plümacher Sohn Solingen". Silver-plating migrated.
    -The Luftwaffe eagle quillons bear a golden miniature of the Spanish Cross in Gold with Swords. Complete with sword knot and hanger. Length 39 cm. -Shoulder boards and collar patches as first lieutenant and the Luftwaffe eagle.
    -Log book with 1196 entries for 1934-36. Promotion to Feldwebel in 1937.
    -Telegram and newspaper clippings reporting him missing in action and his death, 1941.
    -Letter announcing his posthumous promotion to captain.
    - Portrait photographs and numerous other photographs. Loose or on loose album pages.

            Killed on the 02.08.41 and got the RK on the 05.07.41.

                I wouldn't doubt that the set has been pieced together.

                The pilot's badges sure don't appear to be from 1935, if anything one of them appears to be zinc.

                        Tim is right. I would sure like to see some close-ups of those badges. Of course, none of this matters, as there is always someone ready to buy a made up group. Probably why dealers and collectors put together so many of them. best wishes,

                          Hi,

                          The RK formal document/mappe is owned by a friend who is also a fellow WAF member. As I understand it the RK was added to the grouping later and a letter was included from the family to state it was discovered at a later date. As with any grouping there was concern that some pieces were added. (my friend did not bid on the grouping)

                              The pilots badge is a tombak example believed to have been made by FLL. Not what I would expect from a man awarded his pilot badge in 1935. Any pictures of the other pilot badge? best wishes,
