    Jeff,
Being personally not at all familiar with LW badges, could this have been a replacement? Or is there just no way this type of pilot badge should be in this group?

    Just curious,
    thanks

IMO, almost all of these "groups" offered by European dealers and auction houses are partially or totally made up. That said, just because a man received his pilot qualification in 1935 doesn't mean he wouldn't have also owned a later war badge. In fact, I expect that someone with such long service as a pilot WOULD have owned other examples

You are right Andy. The pilot in this particular grouping died in 1941 so the presence of a zinc pilot badge would be a problem. best wishes,

At least it's tombak, but the fact that it is the skinny swas version still makes me think it's later than '41. Just my opinion.

I wonder if the RK is a Juncker or a S&L....

It's interesting that the Spanish Cross applicay is centered on the Luft eagle instead of elsewhere. Often any applicay is usually set on the reverse of the crossguard or on the scabbard. Very curious and unorthadox positioning.

I'm also curious why no EKII on medal bar?
