Lorenzo,
Thank you for taking the time to reply. Personally, I think you have a point. It seems quite feasible that the later mark could appear on a tombac badge, manufactured during the transition to zinc badges. It seems unlikely that at a certain time, on a certain day, etc., production suddenly switched to zinc, along with a new mark, i.e. that no badges slipped through the net, i.e. tombac examples with the later mark.
So, with this in mind, would you be happy to buy an example such as this one? I have to until tomorrow morning to decide, so please !
Also, here is a picture showing the finishing to the top of the wings. Perhaps this will be of some use.
All the best,
Toby.Attached Files

I don't like to see the '68' address on the tombak badges but who knows at what point the '68' mark started to be used.
Toby, you have the badge in your hand, so you have to go on what you feel is right for you. Personally, I wouldn't have a tombak one with the '68' and I feel it would be a liability later.

Hi Toby. My general answer would be that if you have ANY doubts or uncertainty about a badge, then you are better off NOT to buy.
The badge may be good, but it would be better to err on the side of caution and get a badge that you are more comfortable with. Leave this one to the experts.Visit my Badge Collection: http://lbmilitaria.homestead.com/home.html

P.S. There is an old Rolls Royce car salesman saying that goes:
If you have to ask the price..then you probably can't afford it.
In collecting, I would say:
If you have to ask if you "should buy it"..then you probably shouldn't!Visit my Badge Collection: http://lbmilitaria.homestead.com/home.html
